PGA Tour players Mark Calcavecchia and Kenny Perry will both be eligible to join the Champions Tour in 2010. While Mark seems genuinely excited about the upcoming opportunity, Kenny is offering a word of warning to the current Champions Tour players.
“I’m really looking forward to the Champions Tour. Jeff Sluman (a rookie last year, he finished T-9 at Oak Hill in his first Senior PGA Championship) told me the golf is super-competitive out there. I know those guys can still play but I think the overall atmosphere out there will be much more relaxed. I think the Champions Tour will fit my personality perfectly. I can be aggressive on the course and that’s the style of play I like. It’s a tailor-made situation for me.”
— Mark Calcavecchia, 13-time PGA TOUR winner including the 1989 British Open Championship; Turns 50 – June 12, 2010
“Tell them there’s going to be a new sheriff in town. The players who are now out on the Champions Tour wore me out during the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. Payback is tough and I’m coming for them.”
— Kenny Perry, 13-time PGA TOUR winner; Turns 50 – Aug. 10, 2010
